new "lay-out" for the turbo-ghia

i drove to 506 kilometres today to see my black ghia & bring some parts for a mock-up.
i had an idea how to put all the stuff in the engine bay, but when i was trying to make ém there as i wanted, i had to change the plans, for a more easier lay-out, but the best part, is that we can proceed with this new plan. the water/air cooler will be behind the right tail light area, the t04 60-1 turbo will get a longer 90 bend to fit with CB hideaway header, the intake manifold will get a 90 bend over the alternator, after that it will get the butterfly valve and after that comes the cooler, from the cooler to the turbo we will put the dump valve... we will have to get a tank for the cold water, and the radiator also... but in a week the car goes to a welder that will make all the mods, to the brackets, header, injectors, etc...so that the parts can be bolted to the car ...for good. one part that we managed to put in its place, was the wastegate, this is the number four.... huh. check out the pictures... you will get the idea anyway.

Putting discs in a early front axle

OHeh no easy task in here...i though to put the discs in the 1970 bug, but had to back off because the bad interchange for some parts... The bad part was that i had adapters for the saddles from a early front axle, but it seemes that the bolt pattern is different so i put the drum brakes back to the bug...
Ok whats next in the yard? A convertible 1965 ghia...ok, off the drums and in here the adapters for the saddles bolts right on... Then the discs, no way the bearings have a big missmatch, looks like i need a trip to a machineshop, with the discs....the easy part would be to swap to the dropped spindles...that would be the easy part, because i have those in a box. But i would like to know what must be done with the stock ones to suit...

To be continued...

Winter strikes back....

Its not easy with the mother nature, first you want to change to the the drums to accept porsche wheels with summer tyres, and then the nature jokes with you by dropping snow from the sky...
Ok it also started to be very cold working outside in a great flu... So i only made half of the intended work... But the 7x15 fuchs wheels are in the back of the bug....now i only have to swap the disc brakes in front... And the ghia needs some brake check also... Something is wrong inside of a front drum.,.

Too much sparetime - detailing wheels

Due to the never ending problems with my heart, have to take pretty easy for awhile, so what else would be better than paint some wheels, like the awfull looking chrome brms, for my taste they look better like in the picture, painted a bit between the spokes... The winter tyres might be swapped to the summer tyres, pretty soon. And then some repop fooks wheels, the ready painted ones looks like shit to my eyes, but from the chromed and polished ones you can have a nice set of wheels.
I dont like the masking so much, but its worth the hassle...
...ok where will these end? These will...be in the bug and in the karmann ghia i would guess...

Stroker to the panel? Or 2 the vert ghia?

Its hard to decide, which one would be funnier? The panel van goes like the wind, easily, but its not the one that you would like to drive 150 km/h for long...
It would need a red9 fronaxle or something similar... But in the twisty roads its fun, maybe 2 much fun...the fun part would be stopped pretty fast with a 160 hp or so... So what about a 84x94 stroker in a patina ghia vert? That would be fun? ... But the ghias tend to go pretty well even with a 1300 cc... And are fun to drive... Ok, i could try it in that ghia... First. With stock brakes, stock box etc...

But it would be pretty light... So it should be fast aswell! And if these will suck... Then the engine could go to the porsche 912. That would not suck at all...

Some basic info of the engine:
Scat 84 mm
Scat rods porsche bearings
Fk8 cam + straight cut gears
New stroker block from paruzzi
Aa-perf 94 pistons and barrels
Superflows with 48/38 valves
Pauter 1:3 roller rockers
Msd distributor
Carbs or 48 ida throttle bores...
Or a turboset... Will see...
