doctor, doctor, my exhaust is leaking...

I dont remember that i have taken the engine out of the van....ever.

i saw that the engine has a lightened flywheel.

and some small thing to improve. 

The old header and silencer....well they might need some welding.

we took the engine to Hasse H´s. garage, 

so that the broken header studs could be taken care off.

somehow, hasse got the thing fixed and even the header on its place.

now we need a short oililter, around 7 cm tall.

After this im gonna put some new filters to the carbs 

and the engine will get some service too.

Have to say that this has been the best vw engine ever.

hopefully it will stand 10 years more - of fast driving.

new sidewinder exhaust from aircooled.fi :-)

the header needs the cooling tin to be 

cut a little bit - to fit the j-pipes correctly

28 degrees celcius - made this job a bit harder.

got to inspect if this old setup is re-usable...

one engine - fits all. :-)

Super flo - under cover.

Time to cut up the new cylinder tins for the Super Flo heads,

They needed some cutting, and looks like i have to 

make more room for the spark plugs. not sure but it looks like

that theres no space at all for the wires. next stop is the alternator and 

the fan. maybe theres some plans how and where to cut, 

but lets learn this from the hard way.and the full flow areas

tinware needs to be modified as well, also because 

theres this cam position sensor. more of this later on.

at the cottage

what a day, couple of hundred kilometers with the panel van, and at the cottage, driving the ghia...

not so fast, but had to give it a bit of the pedal...

but at the gravel with a spool and power...made me take it really easy...JIMI was the co-pilot and he was very stunned of this experiment...

i took the vert out of the garage, so that i can change the oil, adjust the clutch, adjust the shifter, and even the brakes are made of new parts, they are pretty bad, the pedal feels rock hard, and the brakes stays "on"...

its alive! - the black turbo ghia...

Just do it! some vw action in two days.

my friday was a bit hectic, first a went to see the physiotherapist, and 1.5 hours of things and exercises, i went to inspection with the panel van, and guess what? it finally got its permission to drive, ok its almost x-mas, but its pretty warm and theres no snow. so dig up your cars and start to drive! ok, after this i drove to Kirkkonummi to loan a trailer, and after Kirkkonummi i drove to our cottage to nummi-pusula, to pick up the black turbo ghia, it was raining and getting darker....but anyways, i got the combo to helsinki city, and after the warm cup of coffee and dry shoes, i decided to drive the combo to the autotune.fi, in porvoo, huh. ok i left the ghia to the garage there and headed back to home... the clock was somewhere 10:30 pm, and i was ready for couple of beers. :-)
after this i had a bad feeling with heart, its not happy with this kind of stuff... but thats life. :-)

lots of things to do, with ghias, dirt bikes & the panel van.

1. the panel van has suffered from a malfunction in the parking brakes and it hasn't passed the mot yet, and one small electric "bug" has been a pain in ass also....but thanks to Kotten Tallgren, they seem to stay in the history, ...time will tell





this little guy is happy as hell, and why not? if i had this kind of stuff at 8 years old, i would have been too, ;-)

Helsinki pop-up restaurant day

How many times you have a vw panelvan in your restaurant? Well my sweet neighbours wanted to have a pop-up restaurant at fredrikinkatu 35, so i gave them the space needed. It looks great, except its raining!

Fast trip to kangasniemi

Had to bring some parts for the ghia & and m. Ritvos picked up his ragtop oval.

Freezing weather, 65 km topless in the rain, shorts,
+12 degrees... wheres the sun, the cars and people?

hopefully at home, :-) but thanks for the slugs to make it happen! the bar-be-que was nice!

this time i didn´t take much of pictures, but i had to take couple to show that i really was there! 

the ghia was great, even theres many things that dont work yet, but who gives a rats ass...the stance is correct, and i think it was one of the coolest cars in there. If that´s ok to say?

The Ghia is so low that the exhaust was totalled while 

driving the car from the cottage to the main road...

the gas was stucking, etc... the front axle without the shocks is...

well ...bad... the suspension is too low to the speed bumps... lots of small issues.

at the kauppatori, freezing...

...i was thinking Not to go...but...

 No worries - theres no sugar... ;-)

i got back to home with a vw bus.

next time taking my bus would be a better idea....
