Another great trip - to kangasniemi

Visiting kangasniemi is allways fun, this time we had one goal especially antd that was Picking up the 1960 vw of mika ritvos. But in the same trip, i could pressure wash my 2 blocks, one stock 1600 cc and the other one is a as41 block for a 94 mm bore, align bored and machined for the full flow... Pekka made a oil-line modification, that im not familiar with, but i trust for this super-pro wizard, the other block seems to need an align-bore, and thats what it gets, there will be one 1600cc and one 1915cc long block...later on. Econo-budget ones. ;-)

I had to take a photo of my two "piggies" the 911 and the 912... They are ...well waiting.... :-)

Heres the flywheel side of the modified 94 bore block, this could make a nice engine to one of the convert ghias that i have... Who knows, or for the bug?

The grey haired hippie, is mika ritvos, the owner of the bus behind us.... The other ugly wide-faced guy is me, as you can see im on the drugs, yes i really am, taking pills everyday for the sarchoidosis, that was almost fatal this time.

The cat came also to say hi, but too fast, couldnt get a decent picture ;-)

Washing the blocks, they dont shine, but they are pretty awesome now, next thing will be to wash the cylinders and pistons... And chase the correct bearings... I have cylinder-heads ofcourse, but they are autocraft 910's and angleflows, so they are a bit extreme for these...

I also took the turbo-ghias plenums to get more welds, for the injector-area and for some fuel rails too...

I also had to check my ghia vert, that really seems to like dust & grime, well a wash wouldnt do harm... :-) thanks to pekka for the nice day, coffee and everything. Getting back soon... ;-)

19 inch wheels in a bug...

Looks good, but im amazed of the correct fitment of the 235-35-19" wheels with the stock fenders, it fits better in a bug than in the ghia... But needs a bit lowered suspension though, but this wheel is in its space because the fuchs copy has a small hole that empties the tyre in 2 days.

19" wheels in a ghia

Got to try how a 19" wheel suit the the ghia body, because the wheels are pretty big for sush a tiny body, but amazingly, the ghia is not so tiny at all, so her it is. The tyre is a 235-35-19
In the pictures where the body seems to higher, the wheel is actually bolted to the drum.
But the drum needs to be modified lightly in the machineshop... To better suit in the old transmission...

Trip to kangasniemi motorzentrum

My friend mika got his just painted type2 back from the painters shop, and the plan wss to get it to kangasniemi for a clutch job. The weather was awful, heavy rain, +4 degrees celcius, but we decided to try it anyways.

I took my 911 rsr wannabe replica project to kangasniemi by trailer, even the sidewindows were missing...
Theres sime vital organs missing to drive it to kangasniemi, like the engine, transmission. Headlights, seats, ... Well many things...

When we came back, there was a pretty thick fog i would guess that it lasted 200 kilometeterS... :-)

But the trip was as good as allways!

Dropped spindle is in da ghia... 95% done

... But one thing still to do - Got to change the tie rods. They are pretty "dead"
Got to try one plymouth prowler wheel also, looks grat, but ill stick with the famous fuchs style wheels.
I hope the inspector gives the ghia a permission some day...
And i had to adjust the porsches rear a bit, it was sky high, and poorly bolted together with 2 bolts... Now its better... Heheh. But now it also needs a thick spacer to get the wheel closer to the wheel arches... But thats another story...now i have to put things away and head to home...huh what a day...

What a ghia-weekend!

2 last days, at kangasniemi makes a big difference with the black ghia.
Now theres many things welded or modified, plenums, header, tubing, wastegate, cooler... Huh, even my pauter motors header got a tube and bracket for the wastegate... Wow... Im pretty happy.

Back in black. The ghia i mean...

Yeah, even the DPD couriers did their best, i got my parts, but i had to drive to ( DPD = dumb post distillers? ) their head office to pick up my parts...so that today i will have em with me .... Then i will drive some 300 kilometers, to see my ghia and the welder, but this way we could succeed to put the parts where they belong. I have now a 90 degree silicone (2.5") hose, and the Silicone Polyester Reinforced Hose - Straight Reducers - 90mm to 60mm, the closest to the 2.5" to the cooler sizes...

But now, gotta get some sleep, its going to be a long day.

Vw things going on...

Ok, 1. hopefully i get the missing parts from auto silicone hoses before friday to the post office, because at friday i would go to the "dark side"- meaning to see the black ghia. We have intentions to get the parts together, weld and grind etc... And because i will go to see the special welder dude, i will take this bad ass header with me if he has some spare time... The big wastegate would like to connect with the header... ;-)
2. I've been fixing the blue ghias tail lights, cleaning, changing new bulbs etc... So that there would be light one day, at least at the back. ;-) will see how it turns out...
3. The blue verts front needs some new stuff to get it in shape, i was thinking that i could also assemble one spare adjustable, narroved front axle with theše parts, paint it and bolt it in the old ones place. Would be a cleaner job... Maybe even a bit easier....lets see how it goes...
4. Have to remember to take all the stuff concerning the black ghia...especially the silicone ones.
5. Also cant forget the bad ass bus engine... I wish i had new race rods for that engine, because the rods might be one issue later to bolt one turbokit on it...

But anyways, keep on checking for updates, i have a feeling that they will be plenty again....
