ghia update

The right side wasn't all that bad, things went pretty fast,
the gasket was looking bad - a new one should do the trick,
the spark plugs were changed also,
next thing will be the smoke leak tester...
jimi was really helpful, maybe we will get this in the dyno asap.
but i´m not waiting for huge numbers...

karmann ghia turbo - update

spring is around the corner....so its time to fix the problems of the ghia. With Jimi (son) we've started to fix the leaks in the intake manifold ...its not that easy, but we are getting somewhere. too many hoses, no space, too many wires too. and i do have some problems with the fingers hurting a lot... BUT anyways, i hope to get the left side in shape tonight.

turbo-ghia troubleshooting part 3

Ok so far what i know, is that the tube with the bow leaks a tiny bit of air, as i changed it to a straight pipe without welds or any BOW. now the tubes from the turbo to the end of intercooler is ok for me. BUT, today i tested the part from intercooler to the T-inatkemanifold, AND couldn't get any pressure to that. so the leak must be massive. i took it out of the ghia, as i want to get a better view what can be done, or is it useless... looks like the culprit is the china-throttle body. as it was before too. but i have to test it before I'm sure. IF the manifold setup is good from the T-shaped manifold, this thing could be running better one day. It was around -5 degree Celsius today, so my fingers were frozen in this hobby. i should get it to a warm garage, but there's ice and snow so picking up the ghia is not possible right now.

re check the 1 part of the tubing, with a better compressor,

OK the bad part seems to be the part from china.
any better solutions?

small service to the ghia

As the oil in the engine looks like latte coffee, due to the E85,
i had to change the oil, and the filter too, as i want to run the engine occasionally.
the weather was ok in the beginning, but as we went to buy oil and a filter, we got some snow...
but that didn't bother, at least not much. the next thing to the ghia, is to get it in a warmer place...
then starts the trouble shooting, for the leaks, and have to check if the cam is ok...
i ordered some stuff from amazon...for that leak testing....
