Looks better than ever, the race trans is getting in shape, but there has been plenty of bad things and errors in here. but anyways, this looks very promising... this will end to the orange race beetle-bug-fusca. im not in a hurry, as I'm trying to concentrate to the karmann ghia. and hopefully one day i can swap the orange bug soon to the sepänkatu garage... i also have the spare 2332cc superflo engine waiting...

cb bubbletop block converion
Well sometimes progresscomes suddenly, like this cb block modification. Mikko Koivisto (http://www.mikkokoivisto.fi) welded some material to my blind cb-block so that i could use 101.6 cylinders, i already have an aircooled.fi 86mm crank. looks pretty cool & should be a great base for turbo ghia or a street racer panel van. who knows. but should be more than 2.7 liters of fury.

Power to the people -The Bus Engine is almost ready
theres nothing really special in it, but some parts that i have managed to collect, a new stroker block from Paruzzi.fi, a new FK8 cam, a old 84 Scat, + old school porsche H-profile rods, aa-perf 94 p/c kit, 11,5 C/R, E85 sipping... old race super flows from a 11 sec race bug, manifolds from Aircooled.fi ...and from the Lauffers / vwparadise i got these 48 mm butterflies with the air cleaners etc...
now i need a good flowing exhaust, plus some minor parts... but looks like there will be a potent Bus-motor to really get the panel van moving. and because of the fact that these are not the all out parts that i would have, i would guess that this might be the engine that could be driven, even in the traffic jams. hope so. got to get jimi from the school someday. :-)

rothmans panelvan - veljekset hämärä
this jolly jumper will stay at sleep till 2012... IF my KG-projects will go down the drain somehow. i would like to update it for a better ride in bumpy roads, maybe with a double a-arm front axle. maybe some 100 hp more to the engine... and a much cleaner interior...

new engine lid for the ghia...
The turbokit needs a hole in the lid, so there will be two lids for the KG, one with hole and one without...considering that i have 3 different turbo-kits,
1 -kawell turbo setup with a 2-barrel dellorto
1 -monster kit for a pauter super pro engine with a holley 750
1 -500 hp kit for superflow heads with a holley 750
there might be many "cut up" lids...in my stable.

dailydriver panel van

because of one drunken 17 years old rastafar-idiot, our grocery-getter audi is at a paint shop...so going to the country is taken care with the twilight bros panel... and why not, its inspected and everything... works like a clock. ok the temperature was over 30 degrees c, so its pretty melting hot in the cabin... ( the "slim boy" is my brother - arttu ;-)...
we were waiting for some thunder and lightning show from the sky, but it never came at the country... but in the city it started to look different... :-)

happy new year! 2010 & some plans...

havent been that much at the garage, mostly working and babysitting.
but i have checked the front brakes from the 912, but theres some minor grinding/spacer issues...
that has to be taken care of...
Today i was at the country side, to check out things at the cottage...it was beautifull out there, everything was covered in a thick layer of snow... it was minus 15 degrees, but the twilight brothres panel said...that he´s still alive...ok it didnt start right up. JIMI was really happy.
"paku" (panelvan) is he´s favourite of daddy´s cars.

steyr 55 - inglourious (adolfs gang) basterds

In 1937, Volkswagen began building prototypes of the KdF-wagen (what would later evolve into the Beetle.) It was Tatra's contention that Ledwinka's patented designs had been pirated by Volkswagen, and Tatra sued just prior to the opening salvos of World War II. Within months, Hitler resolved the patent dispute by taking over the Tatra facilities early in the war. T-97 production ceased.
The Nazi government occupied Czechoslovakia in 1938 and forced Ledwinka's office under military rule. For the next six years, Ledwinka's primary responsibility was to supervise the engineering and production of military vehicles. For his efforts under Nazi rule, the Communist-ruled post-war Czechoslovakian government imprisoned Ledwinka for his work during the war. He was interned for six years, until he was finally released in 1951, whereupon he returned to Vienna.
Ledwinka's son Erich was also imprisoned at the same time, but was granted an emigration permit in 1950. Upon returning to Vienna, the younger Ledwinka joined his father's old employer, now known as Steyr-Daimler-Puch (SDP) as a test engineer for engines and chassis. The elder Ledwinka came on with SDP as a consultant, where he worked with his son on the design of the Haflinger military vehicle.
In the years following the war, there were lawsuits regarding Volkswagen's patent infringement upon Ledwinka's designs for the T-97. The suits dragged on for more than a decade, finally ending in 1961 when Volkswagen paid a DM 3 million settlement to the heirs of Franz Ringhoffer, the former owner of Tatra-Werke, vindicating the claims that Ledwinka, not Ferdinand Porsche, was responsible for the overall design of the "people's car."

steyr 55 -

its a funny little car, and some customising done in finland...example, oval window taillights, bigger rear window, and the front grille, and a beetle bumper, but still, i have the original registration book etc. we also got the sliding sunroof working...
i had to take measurements...and yes, a porsche 912 engine could fit. but with what kind of a tranny?
any suggestions? if you have an idea, let me know... jyrie@mac.com
