2 hours job in 3 days. the wbx clutch

 Ok, you would guess that changing a clutch cable is easy job, but this one was horrible.

as there are many wires, brackets, and stuff in that place where the wing-nut is located.

everything else went like a charm, but getting the wing nut back to the wire was pain in the butt. 

had to make a special tool to be able to tighten the nut, but now there's the 2 cm play in the clutch pedal, and its working better than before, but a new problem came, as the exhaust took a hit from a door stopper, and baaam, the header is bent again. ill try to fix it tomorrow...

some upgrade at the garage...

 cutting, grinding, fitting, and  cutting, grinding, fitting, 

well getting somewhere anyways. looks better, but the throttle bores are still missing.

and the header for the turbo won't fit with that massive oil pump. 

and this turbo engine is a 76x94 oxyboxer

this on is a 2332cc basic stroker

WBX Oil change - makes you crazy

 Easy jobs "oil change" what could go wrong... well First tried to take the oil plug off, it is a bit different than in a basic type 1 engine. and i didn't have a correct tool for that, i bought one universal plug too, but there's no correct tool for this plug. so i made one from a bolt & couple nuts. that helped, then i took of the  oil filter... let that drain, ...ok now i have new oil for this engine and a new filter. BUT the filter won't fit, as the exhaust is not original. ok, back to home and another day, another filter, from a vw polo - a small one.

ok now the oil is in and the filter too. but the engine makes lots of louder noises... so the lifters might be empty of oil. i ran the engine arounfd 5 minutes... its still there. ok next time i have to run it harder and longer, then it might be silent again and smooth. i had same crap happening with the dodge v8, ticking and other noises. that was fixed with more oil and running. - these pesky hydraulic lifters. :-)

1700cc upgrade

 i got a alternator kit from www.osakauppa.com - and a new water pump for the wasserboxer bug, so i have even more work to do, and with the inventory of kotten T. i got the missing parts for the alternator kit. and now its almost ready. i still have to get some engine tins... but it looks good. if you need a 1700 cc engine in your project, let me know. :-)

horror with the ghia

 as i have been hunting for the leaking places from the turbo-engine, it has been a really knuckle busting job, but one of the intake manifold is coming apart, (i guess that i will get it back one day) and trying to figure out how to glue it together, with something that really holds up. any suggestions?

everything looked good under valve covers... 

and no loose parts...

some upgrades to the WBX engine

 i found a new k&n filter from my closet, so i have to try if It fits to the wbx engine, somehow, and this CB performance distributor plug will find its place also. as i don't use the distributor. next i will take off the mechanical fuel pump.... then there's lots of space... for a turbo? will see... but it would be wicked! maybe i have to check if the 17 inch american racing wheels would suit... there we go again.... :-)

 Some good and some bad, the bad things first, theres a broken front axle there. and some rust holes too, and the engine coolant is leaking... BUT the good thing is that the leak is an easy fix, changing merely one gasket. (maybe changing the whole wasser-pump ...could be wise) ...the axle can be welded, or getting a new one. rust holes are always bad, as i haven't seen them yet. good thing is that the start-up will be at this week, maybe in 24 hours. i hope that the long block aint broken... but will see and you will hear.

1700 cc with kawell turbo?

Today i was totally exhausted, but tried more things. the intake needs more mods with the grinder, and the intake ends needs a vacuum port. There isn't any for the moment. but this looks promising.  :-) the tube that goes to the turbocharger needs also taken some 5 cm away. Maybe it would be great to have one custom made after this mock-up is ready. any suggestions? I'm getting a feeling that this has to be running in couple of months. just for the fun. :-) - for the next day i leave the intake mod, and have to find the j-tubes and the bracket for the carb, and bolt the t-intake back... + put the ignition on spot too.

 just mocking-up some parts, 

but looks promising, the intake needs some modification, 

but this could be worth the try. :-) stay tuned.

 

project 1915cc stormer

 This might be the smallest vw engine in my place for the moment. 

we got the engine running, but the carb leaked some, so we have to get a new one.

and the engine tins also, and a better muffler too. 

i got the ghia also back to the garage.
