small improvements... with this.

Today i worked with the blinkers, 
but theres still some bugs somewhere.
but the engine starts right up, 
maybe i get also the blinkers work tomorrow?

In & out & in & out

This little ghia lost it transplant for a fellow vw-pervert, but got its "heart" back, and now its back in its place. with some black paint. got to put everything back and make it run. there goes the spare time.
i think it will get a stock carb this time.

Ghia repair, the black one

Sunshine, snow, old ghias & warm weather is a beautifull combination...I started the black ghia just to get some kicks, and it worked fine. I ran it 5-10 minutes and after that, i decided to take the garretts compressor side apart, because theres some leak of it. I heard that theres a turbocharger repair shop near by...

Finding some lost parts for my 1915 project

The black ghia is in autotune.fi, for the new ecu and other turbo upgrades, so i can allways, seek for the lost parts for this 1915cc project, its going to be a "el cheapo" version, mainly putting stock parts and some tune up parts together, nothing fancy. Its a block that i had in my closet, a full flowed, line bored, with some oil mods, now with a stock 69 crank, stock rods, a engle w110 copy cam, bigger oil pump, 94 p/c kit, stock heads but with harder springs, double 40 dell's, 009 and a header...i think it will make that blue ghia vert in a great cruiser... Lets see... The picks are for memorising what i have to find... Oilpump, flywheel, plugs, cylinder spigots, bits&bobs ;-) and unported manifolds for the carbs too...

a low light by a surprise?

well seems like that the baby blue cab is actually a low light body modified to a newer front, not 100% sure, but pretty sure by now :-)





so should i take a step to the lowlight looking cabriolet or not? well theres a plenty other things to do, but its nice to know. my guess is that it was hit to the front and fixed with the never sheet metal, and the body color might have been paprika red.

Ghia updAtes...

Perfect day to cut gaskets to the superflows, and to make so progress to the ghias, the plenums are back in the turbo ghias enginebay, and the gaskets and the silicone hoses are installed with the clamps, looks good and feels better, 
Second thing is to put the turbo header back together, and put the oil line also to the turbo. 

I charged the battery to the baby blue "smurfette" and had to drive it in the gravel-roads for a while, it was fun, but noticed that now the shifter needs adjuStment, and tyre presUre is a bit low, and one rear chock absorber needs attention. 

If i only had working lights, and blinkers, and maybe charging system i would be happy... But i need help from someone for that...but what can i say? Old volkswagens never dies... Even they can look a bit like that

For a while i've been thinking to put weber 48 idf's with manifolds to that black ghia, because it would be a fast solution to get back to the roads, but wheres the fun part in that? I' ll get another combo for those carbs, and for these 40 drla's i have an 1915cc engle 110 combo for a regular driving engine. 
Maybe that can be done in 2015 who knows?

Getting in the gear, with the cool ghia



Driving could be much easier with working gears, at least one reverse gear. 
So after many times to try to adjust the old school shifter, i gave up and started to dig up the real problem, i found out that the shift rod had any bushing left, and the joint to the hockey stick was waiting for retirement, ok, i took out the shift rod and the joint, 

After cleaning & oiling the shift rod, i started to put it back, but it wasnt a one hour job, ok, had to buy a magnetic pick up tool also, ... Ok, i got the parts back on, but had to modifie the joint area a bit.

But this thing really helped and now the gears are like they should be, so if you got problems to engage gears, check these areas first.  Now it feels like i could go racing with it. 

Now theres only 99 jobs to do ;-)

Ok, next thing will be rpairing the clutch release system, with a new spring, and some other stuff as well, the weather is bad to the outside of the garage repairs, but i hope that ithe rain stops for a moment...

Strokers & stuff

Well, for the stroker, i just got a set of lash caps, but still i have to locate some studs for the rockers, the pauter rockers stud wont fit with the berg rockers...
And also ... Have to find a oil cooler part.
And if you have a set of super flo valve covers, to sell, give me a message!

I got the -1600cc engine to the ghia cab, but the clutch release spring snapped in 3 pieces in the first try... So more things to fix. 
I changed also the exhaust/heater part to the right side of the engine, and i will put all the ducting to work so that theres a working heater in the ghia. Heh. Useless?
No way, sometimes the summer nights are chilly, and if you drive without any top, you will need one.

The red bug will be meeting its new owner hopefully at friday. 

The black ghia needs also some attention :-)

New heart to the ghia, comes ...

...from the red bug, ... And the reason is that theres a need for a bug without an engine. It goes to seinäjoki region... So i will put it in the ghia tomorrow, and hopefully, it takes the ghia closer to the "running mode"... :-) this city needs a patina vert ghia to the streets...
