wbx bug works again!

 i went to somero, with some new battery cables etc to fix that pesky little bug, nutlike i earlier thought, that the problem is with the ground, so i dismantled the battery cable and put wire back in the cable shoe, and the extra wires very tight, and suddenly there was power in the battery. and now it even starts, and runs, and i drove it. i also made it to the cottage, and it was the best day, in a month. yesterday, i picked up a turn signal switch, but looks like it isn't like the original part. but have to check youtube for some help. 

if i got it working again - that might be the biggest issue for that bug, one brake bulb needs to be changed too, and the exhaust needs some welding but then its inspection time. and the turbo kit is getting better all the time. but that's another story.

 ...and the oxygen got a new part also. for the oiling...much better!

these came today, brackets, gaskets...

some upgrade at the garage...

 cutting, grinding, fitting, and  cutting, grinding, fitting, 

well getting somewhere anyways. looks better, but the throttle bores are still missing.

and the header for the turbo won't fit with that massive oil pump. 

and this turbo engine is a 76x94 oxyboxer

this on is a 2332cc basic stroker

oxyboxer update

I started to cut the china tin to fit the oxyboxer, 

and as i haven't done this before, i was a bit scared.

but looks like things might work.

and while waiting for the dual throttle bores, 

i used the carbs to mock up the plenum etc. 

now i will do the other side and 

check for the other turbo parts too.

had to drive the buggy at the garage, it is nasty looking and 

sounds like a bee with rabies. :-) 

new brake caliper to the dodge, 

even the snow hit the ground, 

but have to make this work. looks like these are kelsey hayes brakes...

WBX Oil change - makes you crazy

 Easy jobs "oil change" what could go wrong... well First tried to take the oil plug off, it is a bit different than in a basic type 1 engine. and i didn't have a correct tool for that, i bought one universal plug too, but there's no correct tool for this plug. so i made one from a bolt & couple nuts. that helped, then i took of the  oil filter... let that drain, ...ok now i have new oil for this engine and a new filter. BUT the filter won't fit, as the exhaust is not original. ok, back to home and another day, another filter, from a vw polo - a small one.

ok now the oil is in and the filter too. but the engine makes lots of louder noises... so the lifters might be empty of oil. i ran the engine arounfd 5 minutes... its still there. ok next time i have to run it harder and longer, then it might be silent again and smooth. i had same crap happening with the dodge v8, ticking and other noises. that was fixed with more oil and running. - these pesky hydraulic lifters. :-)

problems with the wasser-boxer...

WOT is not always a good thing, especially in the traffic...and in the city traffic. I got a stuck throttle suddenly many times till i couldn't drive the bug. i got it to the garage, and started to locate the trouble... 

1. i was thinking that a old throttle can't be that tight after many years of use, so i dismantled some parts, and i was pretty sure that the problem is the TPS, but no. it was the 3D printed parts. way too tight fitment. 

but this should be easy to repair? lets see. i have to shave some material of the bracket, and then try to put back on their places again - yikes! will se how this turns out. but you learn by doing stuff... to be continued.

wbx bug - here and therewbx,

This thing seems to like driving, and goes like a go-kart, runs easily 120 km/h. 

starts, stops and goes!have to put the audi on hold, maybe to the painter, and some bushings has to be changed. so its time to enjoy the bug.

 

small things happening

 i tried the fuchs copy wheels... to the purple bug, 

well looks ok. now with winter tires - but the rears are still to be painted, 

maybe today? will see...

Ok, as i changed the distributor to a cb performance plug, i heard the the distributor shaft have to be removed, so maybe some info has to be found somewhere. I checked the CB perf web-site ...and indeed there's info that you have to eliminate the shaft, and the shims. I was scared that the shims ends inside of the block, if things goes wrong. First i took the shaft carefully with a magnetic pick up. and the shims stayed almost on their place. then i got the shims off too. wow. and back with the plug. and i also found the fuel pump block off plate, and with one oil line block off, i got that working too. what a great day.
