Driving my turbo ghia for the first time!

This was the best day for ages! I drove to kangasniemi - to change the oil pump cover to to my turbo ghia...a csp cover, that has a valve did the trick and now it has normal oil pressures... Wow.

We got the engine running but it was smoking like hell, which was a bit a dissapointment, but i went for a small spin for test the other stuff... The best part was that the oil pressures were ok, and the smoke was gone after a couple of minutes driving. The rancho drag race gear box worked fine, and the rest of the car was allmost civilized, sort of... ;-)

I tested the third gear and the gauge was showing around one bar of boost, ... Yeeeeha! The kawell turbo setup from the stone age works fine! I dont know how fast i was going... Heheh....

There was some issues though, like one burned fuse, and the oil cap is missing now, and the fan is history also, but we managed to get the car back at the garage, and im on my way to home...

What a day, i feel better than james brown...!

Huh, it was cold, 4 degrees celsius, plus endless rain. Didnt like the weather, but other vise the trip was good, the panel van made it like it was supposed to do...but when i was back at my yard, the electrics went suddenly off. :-( 

Back home, huh....

German car show @ kangasniemi

We came to pick up mikas 1960 kastenwagen from pekka laitinen's place, and mika' s son casimir bought his first car, a wbx bug! Now we are learning him to drive a vw lupo in the cottage. Its a great trip. I saw my dear project cars, and drove the wbx bug. Let the picks tell the story...

Brake repair - backwoods engineering ;-)

The last drum to beat :-) getting better, and possibly... Will stop when in need. 

Now the adjustment parts moves easily, and everything seems to be in order, except the brake line, which is too short, now i will remember to take the longer 24 cm line.

And like in one picture you can see also the brake-fluid pouring... That was a stupid mistake, :-/

Next will be the pedal "workout" + change the other emergency brake wire...

My new bearings just arrived!

And they are Super expensive! 194 euros with shipping, for the scat 84 crank with porsche bearings, but in 0.75 size. But now we are getting somewhere!  The bearings came from ahnendorp.de. 

Looks like there could be a stroker longblock more this summer? 

You need some welding? Autopelti hytöset oy

Well a new GOOD contact for me was this autopelti hytöset, in konala (helsinki)! 

The inspector found a rust spot In the panelvan from the bottom, (check the picture) and due to the lack of welding equipment, i asked the job from this company... They promised to do it fast, and for the right price... so now the panelvan is ready for the inspector for that part!

Have to say that the guy behind the desk has many old vw's so its a safe place to take your vw.

For the inspection. Theres some problems to be taken care of, like the rust hole in the bottom, hand brake adjustment, blinkers, some "gap" in the steering etc...

Looks sunny but it was only 2 degrees celsius...

Stay cool, check your hose!

Had to change the fuel line, because there seemed to be some extra gas in the enginebay, so now its the correct time to check the fuel lines, before the summer gets hot. :-) its so uncool to get your v-dub burned to a crisp...

(I bought 1.5 meters of gates fuel hose,)

Helsinki pop-up restaurant day

How many times you have a vw panelvan in your restaurant? Well my sweet neighbours wanted to have a pop-up restaurant at fredrikinkatu 35, so i gave them the space needed. It looks great, except its raining!
