taking the ghia for a spin.

that ghia is a fun little car, the co-pilot was wondering if the clutch slips,
and also that the engine broke down, but I'm happy that
it didn't brake down, only couple oil lines got hurt. have to change for new ones.
they were only breather hoses, so now oil pressure problems...
but the engine runs and the clutch is ok.
i haven't accelerated with the 4th gear, only throught 1-2-and 3rd gears.

it wouldn't hurt to get money, and take this to the dyno, and later on to the inspection.
also re-tighten parts and check for the leaks in the intake manifold too...

Super flo - under cover.

Time to cut up the new cylinder tins for the Super Flo heads,
They needed some cutting, and looks like i have to
make more room for the spark plugs. not sure but it looks like
that theres no space at all for the wires. next stop is the alternator and
the fan. maybe theres some plans how and where to cut,
but lets learn this from the hard way.and the full flow areas
tinware needs to be modified as well, also because
theres this cam position sensor. more of this later on.

Power to the people -The Bus Engine is almost ready

After the fast cruise with silver "that sun" we headed to the garage to see my project engine.
theres nothing really special in it, but some parts that i have managed to collect, a new stroker block from Paruzzi.fi, a new FK8 cam, a old 84 Scat, + old school porsche H-profile rods, aa-perf 94 p/c kit,    11,5 C/R, E85 sipping... old race super flows from a 11 sec race bug, manifolds from Aircooled.fi ...and from the Lauffers / vwparadise i got these 48 mm butterflies with the air cleaners etc...

now i need a good flowing exhaust, plus some minor parts... but looks like there will be a potent Bus-motor to really get the panel van moving. and because of the fact that these are not the all out parts that i would have, i would guess that this might be the engine that could be driven, even in the traffic jams. hope so. got to get jimi from the school someday. :-)

a great vw-scene day!

i went to get the panel van inspected today, but i didn't go as planned, and the reason was that the mechanic ( me, myself & i) made a mistake, ....first i had two spacers in the rear brake in wrong places, so i had to fix those at Kottens garage, ok it didn't take that long at all, but the reason for NOT to get the van inspeccted properly was that i never actually adjusted the parking brakes at all, so pulling the lever didn't make much of braking. that was one thing.... the second thing was that the rear wheel was oily, so the inspector thought it will slip oil, even the rear brakes were working like they should. ok i only have to clean the wheels inside and adjust the parking brakes... that will do the trick.

after this i went to see Tomi at sepankatu garage, and bring out some parts for my stroker...
there was a problem with the berg rockers, super flows and big springs....they make the pushrods to touch the puush rod tubes, so the idea was to take the heads off and weld and remake  things .... ;-) but then the better idea was to try again the Pauter rockers, and after so tweaks, we have now pauter rockers working with my parts... wow. one side is pretty much looking great.

I got some spare adjusters from Jyrki Laune to the pauter rockers, (a very big THANKS to jyrki to help in this) and after this we got the oil sump in order too, except, theres one stud missing, but ill figure out something for that...

i got new intake manifolds from AIRCOOLED.FI, (thanks for mikko) and they will have 48mm butterfly´s in no time. and maybe some other parts like fan etc... ;-)

i also got the opportunity to see Make´s turbo bugs engine... and check out some things that i could copy to my black ghia´s engine...anyways even i didn't have the bus inspected ... it was a helluva day.
got to get the panel inspected and the stroker...well you will guess where. :-)

The change is coming!

For the panel van, ;-) ...its coming, the 84x94 stroker. It may not be the ultimate fastest panel van in the streets, but maybe a surprise for some of the guys in the Leasing GTI's, the brakes has always been superior, and the ride is like in the rails, so the only ingridient mising is 100 hp more. Maybe it will happen with this... Who knows.

Vw things going on...

Ok, 1. hopefully i get the missing parts from auto silicone hoses before friday to the post office, because at friday i would go to the "dark side"- meaning to see the black ghia. We have intentions to get the parts together, weld and grind etc... And because i will go to see the special welder dude, i will take this bad ass header with me if he has some spare time... The big wastegate would like to connect with the header... ;-)
2. I've been fixing the blue ghias tail lights, cleaning, changing new bulbs etc... So that there would be light one day, at least at the back. ;-) will see how it turns out...
3. The blue verts front needs some new stuff to get it in shape, i was thinking that i could also assemble one spare adjustable, narroved front axle with theše parts, paint it and bolt it in the old ones place. Would be a cleaner job... Maybe even a bit easier....lets see how it goes...
4. Have to remember to take all the stuff concerning the black ghia...especially the silicone ones.
5. Also cant forget the bad ass bus engine... I wish i had new race rods for that engine, because the rods might be one issue later to bolt one turbokit on it...

But anyways, keep on checking for updates, i have a feeling that they will be plenty again....

new "lay-out" for the turbo-ghia

i drove to 506 kilometres today to see my black ghia & bring some parts for a mock-up.
i had an idea how to put all the stuff in the engine bay, but when i was trying to make ém there as i wanted, i had to change the plans, for a more easier lay-out, but the best part, is that we can proceed with this new plan. the water/air cooler will be behind the right tail light area, the t04 60-1 turbo will get a longer 90 bend to fit with CB hideaway header, the intake manifold will get a 90 bend over the alternator, after that it will get the butterfly valve and after that comes the cooler, from the cooler to the turbo we will put the dump valve... we will have to get a tank for the cold water, and the radiator also... but in a week the car goes to a welder that will make all the mods, to the brackets, header, injectors, etc...so that the parts can be bolted to the car ...for good. one part that we managed to put in its place, was the wastegate, this is the number four.... huh. check out the pictures... you will get the idea anyway.

Stroker to the panel? Or 2 the vert ghia?

Its hard to decide, which one would be funnier? The panel van goes like the wind, easily, but its not the one that you would like to drive 150 km/h for long...
It would need a red9 fronaxle or something similar... But in the twisty roads its fun, maybe 2 much fun...the fun part would be stopped pretty fast with a 160 hp or so... So what about a 84x94 stroker in a patina ghia vert? That would be fun? ... But the ghias tend to go pretty well even with a 1300 cc... And are fun to drive... Ok, i could try it in that ghia... First. With stock brakes, stock box etc...

But it would be pretty light... So it should be fast aswell! And if these will suck... Then the engine could go to the porsche 912. That would not suck at all...

Some basic info of the engine:
Scat 84 mm
Scat rods porsche bearings
Fk8 cam + straight cut gears
New stroker block from paruzzi
Aa-perf 94 pistons and barrels
Superflows with 48/38 valves
Pauter 1:3 roller rockers
Msd distributor
Carbs or 48 ida throttle bores...
Or a turboset... Will see...

Everything needs a stroker.... :-)

Im checking out the parts for my stroker build up. And if mr. Laitinen has some time, i would like to have two things to be done for the block... One of them would be the porsche oil-squirters...
...but i can live without them also :-/ the 84 stroker crank needs also new "8-stud-job"
Im still going to use a fk 8 cam, and mild compression, just "in case"...  Of a turbo...
...to be continued...

Searching for a good turbo (for the ghia)

I have this garrett from the pauter 86x94 to use in the black ghia, but i will go to show it in a repairshop, if it needs anything...if its ok, i will try to get the cb hideaway turbo header today, and also try to sell stuff to get an autotune ecu, ... asap. The black ghia needs these. The system that there is right now, seems to be too small for the combo. :-/

My new bearings just arrived!

And they are Super expensive! 194 euros with shipping, for the scat 84 crank with porsche bearings, but in 0.75 size. But now we are getting somewhere!  The bearings came from ahnendorp.de.
Looks like there could be a stroker longblock more this summer?

X-mas coming... And coming ;-)

This time came some smaller parts, superflow-ida manifolds, oilpump cover with pressure valve and linkage, thanks for aircooled.fi! Looks great! Now i only need some 48 carbs. Whats next in line? The bearings etc from keiteleen kone. Then i would guess that its time for some serious assembly... Yikes!

X-mas coming early?

I got a new block, ready for a stroker axle, ready for 94mm p/c kit, and ready for full flow, yeeeha! Thanks for the paruzzi.fi ... This is inspiring, i started instantly to check the crank etc.... And what misses for the moment.... To be contiuned

And thanks to paruzzi for the great magazines!
